AREAS OF SUPPORT PHYSIOTHERAPISTS CAN ASSIST WITH
- Attainment of gross motor milestones, including:
- Infant (rolling, sitting, standing, walking)
- Toddler (climbing, jumping, ball skills)
- Adolescent (hopping, skipping, running, bike riding)
- Functional, individualised, family-centred movement programs aimed at developing:
- muscle strength
- muscle length
- muscle endurance
- postural stability
- balance
- motor planning and coordination
- Management of posture and gait abnormalities
- Management of pain and fatigue
- Hydrotherapy programs and readiness for swimming assessments
- Access and participation in inclusive recreational physical activities, such as community sport, playground, and beach
- Prescription of assistive technology (such as manual and power wheelchairs, other specialised seating, standing and walking frames, specialised strollers, adaptive bikes and trikes and manual handling equipment).
- Management of secondary skeletal deformities, including assessment, prescription and referral for orthoses
- 24-hour positioning utilising the Simple Stuff Works approach
